    Press release:

Saudi AI startup Echelon has raised an undisclosed investment round from East40, RAED Ventures and Avra, alongside Ben Horowitz and other investors, as it looks to expand the deployment of artificial intelligence technologies across enterprises and government entities in Saudi Arabia.

Founded in Riyadh by Prince Khalid Bin Bader Al Saud, Echelon has spent around 10 months developing a model aimed at bridging the gap between AI technology providers and organisations seeking to deploy their technologies in day-to-day operations.

Rather than developing a single AI product, Echelon works with technology providers across the AI stack and helps enterprises and government entities select, localise and deploy their technologies.

The company is targeting eight sectors, including energy, industrials, government, telecommunications, defence, aviation, financial services and insurance, and healthcare.

Its current technology partnerships include Applied Intuition, IFS and Rubrik. In September, Echelon partnered with IFS to deploy and localise its industrial AI platform, IFS.ai, for Saudi enterprises, particularly across asset-intensive industries.

It has also partnered with US-based Applied Intuition to bring its physical AI platform to Saudi Arabia, targeting industries including logistics, mining and mobility.

Echelon is building its operations around several business units. Its Technologies division, led by former Microsoft executive Omar Saleh, focuses on commercial partnerships and enterprise deployments.

The company plans to launch Frontier in the fourth quarter of 2026, embedding engineers within customer organisations to deploy AI technologies and develop applications and intellectual property locally.

During the same quarter, Echelon plans to launch an Institute to train Saudi engineers in applied AI, beginning with a programme focused on physical AI. A separate Echelon Defense Industries division is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2027.

The company plans to work through commercial partnerships, joint ventures and purpose-built businesses, while committing capital, personnel and operational resources to selected projects.

Echelon is initially focusing on the Saudi market, with plans to expand its model across the wider region.
