Guangzhou, China — July 2026: As part of AIM Talks China 2026, a high-level UAE delegation led by H.E. Fahad Al Gergawi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade, concluded a series of strategic engagements in Guangzhou that underscored the growing depth of industrial cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and China.

The official visit included a bilateral meeting with Mr. Sun Zhiyang, Mayor of Guangzhou, that reinforced the status of AIM Talks as a platform for advancing institutional dialogue, sector-specific collaboration, and long-term economic partnership.

The delegation was accompanied by H.E. Mariam Al Shamsi, Consul General of the UAE in Guangzhou, and included senior representatives such as H.E. Dawood Al Shezawi, President of AIM Global Foundation, H.E. Raja Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Credit Insurance, and H.E. Rashed Al Blooshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Registration Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market alongside officials from the Tianhe District Government. These meetings are part of AIM Talks’ broader vision as a key platform to align institutions with real economic opportunities, transforming high-level dialogue into practical collaboration pathways between governments, the private sector, technology, and industry. The Guangzhou engagements embodied the operational dimension of the platform and established it as an effective tool to advance cross-border cooperation between the UAE and China in a dynamic and sustainable economic environment of growth, expansion, and regional and international influence.

The first major engagement was a high-level bilateral meeting between the UAE delegation and Mayor Sun Zhiyang, along with senior Guangzhou officials, to align city-level development priorities with broader pathways for trade and investment cooperation with the UAE. The meeting clearly reflected the growing importance of Guangzhou as a strategic hub for advanced industry, innovation, scientific research, and international trade. During the discussions, Guangzhou’s leadership highlighted the city’s strengths in artificial intelligence, new energy, and the low-altitude economy, while affirming its readiness to broaden cooperation with the UAE across priority sectors.

The meeting also produced a forward-looking basis for cooperation in areas such as AI, transportation, smart mobility, finance, tourism, and new energy. By aligning Guangzhou’s industrial and scientific capabilities with the UAE’s regional connectivity and market access advantages, the engagement strengthened the foundation for enterprise partnerships, pilot projects, and long-term bilateral growth.

For the UAE side, H.E. Fahad Al Gergawi reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship and emphasized the UAE’s role as a strategic regional hub, while highlighting high potential areas for deeper cooperation, including AI, finance, energy, construction, tourism, and food security.

The second engagement was an official visit to PCI Technology, organised by the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Guangzhou. PCI Technology is one of China’s leading advanced AI companies with recognised strengths in smart-city development, intelligent rail transit, and integrated smart mobility solutions. The visit offered senior UAE officials a direct window into a sophisticated Chinese model that combines technological innovation, infrastructure, and urban transportation, reflecting the broad horizons of UAE-China cooperation in high-value future sectors.

The program included discussions on how Chinese innovation in intelligent mobility and infrastructure could align with emerging demand and investment opportunities in the UAE, and reflected the growing importance of Guangzhou within the UAE-China partnership and the city’s role as a strategic gateway within the Greater Bay Area.

During this visit, H.E. Gergawi highlighted the UAE’s role as an expansion platform for Chinese enterprises seeking reach across the Middle East, North Africa, and Africa. He reinforced the country’s open economic framework, cross-border infrastructure, and mature investment ecosystem, while encouraging PCI Technology and other Chinese firms to explore opportunities across the UAE’s smart city and intelligent transport sectors.

H.E. Raja Al Mazrouei added that the UAE is already integrating next-generation mobility technologies, including AI, automation, and advanced rail monitoring systems, into its transport infrastructure. Her remarks highlighted the relevance of deeper cooperation with Chinese innovation-led companies capable of contributing to the UAE’s next phase of transport and logistics development.

On the Chinese side, Mr. Huang Yigeng, Vice President and General Manager of Public Affairs at PCI Technology, affirmed the company’s interest in the UAE market and expressed readiness to explore cooperation in intelligent rail transit and urban smart mobility through technology transfer, project delivery, and industrial joint development, reflecting a shared momentum to move from dialogue to practical cooperation with economic and strategic impact.

More broadly, these meetings clearly reflected the essence of AIM Talks China as a pivotal platform that transforms dialogue into a space of direct interaction between government leaders, economic institutions, advanced technologies, and market opportunities of real value. Through this integration of leadership, innovation, and market openness, the platform continues to consolidate the foundations of the UAE-China partnership, opening more mature pathways for long-term cooperation in the fields of advanced technology, smart mobility, and future infrastructure, as well as joint economic growth.

These meetings reflect a deepening of UAE-China cooperation beyond traditional trade exchange, towards aligning innovation, infrastructure, investment, and institutional implementation into a more inclusive and effective partnership. AIM Talks China continues to establish itself as a strategic framework that supports institutional alignment, opens new avenues of cooperation, and contributes to transforming economic potential into practical and sustainable partnerships.
